  • Historian John Mills released The Narrative of Primus, a book that tells how an enslaved family contributed to the Revolutionary War by fighting for American liberty. His work highlights overlooked Black patriots just in time for the 250th anniversary commemorations.  Connecticut Public

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Connecticut lawmakers are considering a bill that would require major fossil fuel companies to help pay for repairing climate-related damage — a climate superfund program set to fund projects like stormwater upgrades and coastal resilience. The Environment Committee will hold a public hearing at 11 a.m. Feb. 20 in Hartford.  The Hour

FINANCE NEWS

  • A WalletHub study released Tuesday shows Connecticut ranks as having the third-highest property taxes in the nation, with a $332,700 home paying about $6,024 annually and a $29,100 car seeing $602 in taxes — only Illinois and New Jersey have higher rates.  The Hour

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • CT lawmakers considered Gov. Lamont's proposal on Wednesday to require social media platforms to verify users' ages and restrict notifications after 9 p.m. Critics warned the measure might lead to censorship, and a Norwalk resident expressed support.   • Zillow data shows that typical rents in New Haven rose 4.25% to $1,984 in January, nearly matching trends in New York City. Rents in the Stamford/Bridgeport corridor increased 2.1% to $2,718, and Gov. Lamont supports new legislative efforts to cap rent hikes.  The Hour
