  • Norwalk ACTS presented its 2025 Equity Report on Tuesday at its quarterly convention, highlighting local disparities in housing, education and language access. Jesse Buccolo said the report will guide community leaders in improving outcomes for children, youth and families.  Nancy On Norwalk

  • Norwalk Public Library will host the ‘Women Breaking Loose’ performance — a Women’s History Month event — on Wed, Mar. 18 at 6:30 p.m. as actress Michèle LaRue reads classic stories by Kate Chopin and Edna Ferber.  Nancy On Norwalk
  • The Norwalk Film Festival opens its sixth annual event on Friday, Mar. 20 in downtown Norwalk with a screening of the documentary Little Richard: I Am Everything — filmmakers Lisa Cortés and Trey Ellis will lead a post-film discussion as tickets are sold separately.  Nancy On Norwalk

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Norwalk Public Schools reported progress on its Future Ready for All plan Tuesday night, citing a 92.6% graduation rate, enhanced literacy programs, and new school safety and AI initiatives. District officials outlined upcoming facilities upgrades and teacher training efforts across the district.  Nancy On Norwalk
  • Norwalk Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Alexandra Estrella announced on Tuesday that she will step down at the end of this school year after nearly six years leading the district. ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Lawmakers will discuss a proposal today to form a rapid response program that treats invasive hydrilla in Connecticut waterways. The plan will set up a task force, expedite permit approvals, and guide local efforts to install boat washing stations, although funding remains uncertain.  Connecticut Public

  • Connecticut lawmakers are reviewing a bill that would let the Public Health Commissioner set vaccination schedules and critics (including voices from local Fairfield County) argue it risks expanding centralized control over personal medical decisions; further legislative hearings will address the changes.  Connecticut Public
