Riko’s Pizza officially opened its new Norwalk location on Thursday at 85 New Canaan Ave. when local leaders, including Mayor Harry Rilling, joined a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the 4,600‑square‑foot restaurant that now offers dine‑in, takeout, a full bar, and private event space; founder Rico Imbrogno said the venue replaces the takeout‑only shop and will create new local jobs. This expansion marks the company’s growing footprint across Fairfield County.
A new Wegmans store in Norwalk is set to open on July 23 — the first in Connecticut and spread across 92,000 square feet.
The store will hire about 500 local workers and offer familiar food departments such as produce, bakery, deli, seafood, and more.
Katherine E Schneider was named Norwalk’s new Poet Laureate and will serve a two-year term beginning March 17 to promote poetry through public readings, educational events, and community programs—she is set to be featured at Norwalk Poets LIVE! on April 12.
Starting Thursday, March 20, the West Rocks Middle School Drama Club will perform Shrek the Musical Jr.—with shows on March 20 at 1:30 p.m., March 21 at 7 p.m., and March 22 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. The musical, based on a popular film and book, carries a message about looking past appearances.
Connecticut Attorney General William Tong joined 20 other state officials in a lawsuit against the Trump administration to block plans to cut around 1,300 jobs at the Department of Education.
He said the layoffs — which he calls a lawless attack on kids and schools — threaten federal programs that support many local districts.
