Connecticut lawmakers are studying ranked choice voting for party primaries after supporters urged the Government Administration and Elections Committee on Monday to try the plan—voters would rank candidates until one gains 50% of the votes.

Gov. Lamont supports the measure while election officials say they need extra time to update voting procedures, with the committee set to act by next Wednesday.

Common Council member Darlene Young has filed to run for Norwalk mayor.

During the March 18th budget hearings, Norwalk officials set a rule that limits spending increases for all departments except education to between 2—2.5% and requires a 1% salary cut, a move that has raised concerns as key services face reduced inflation-adjusted funding.
