- ➤ Norwalk held its annual Autism Acceptance event Tuesday on the Norwalk Green where a blue-lit gazebo shone as part of the Light It Up Blue campaign. State Sen. Bob Duff presented a proclamation from Gov. Ned Lamont while Mayor Harry Rilling declared April as Autism Acceptance Month (honoring contributions by people with autism) (bringing local officials together). News 12 Connecticut
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ On April 1, 2024, Mayor Rilling and other local and state leaders (including Governor Lamont, Senator Duff, and Commissioner Gilman) celebrated the groundbreaking for the new Norwalk High School and P-TECH building. The project (which will save taxpayers $138 million with an 80% state reimbursement) will be move-in ready by fall 2027 with site work finished by fall 2028. City of Norwalk

- ➤ Nursing home workers are urging Gov. Ned Lamont and state lawmakers to fix contracts that expired two weeks ago and explain federal public health funding cuts—union leaders warn that many may vote for a strike if wages and supplies do not improve. Connecticut Public
- ➤ Antonia Kolb from New Canaan developed the mobile app Detickt It that uses photos to identify ticks, show risks and link to the CDC. She created it after surviving two rare tickborne infections and earned the Princess Diana Award—her app has reached 4,000 downloads. News 12 Connecticut
