CULTURE NEWS

  • The city allocated $70K for an outdoor public art installation along 450 feet of fencing on Ely Avenue and is inviting Connecticut-based artists and community organizations to apply by Friday, April 11. Selected artists will host a community engagement activity — allowing residents to share ideas on a project that celebrates diversity and beautifies the neighborhood.  Nancy On Norwalk
  • Kathleen Cameron, a Darien native, plays Bonnie and other roles in the musical 'Come From Away' at Palace Stamford (where she first saw live theater) in what she calls a full circle moment. EDUCATION NEWS

  • On April 8th, 2024, Mayor Rilling, Dr. Estrella and other state and community leaders broke ground on the new South Norwalk neighborhood school at 1 Meadow St. Ext., which will serve up to 680 PreK–5th grade students and be completed in August 2025 under a new 60% state reimbursement rate — marking the first neighborhood school in South Norwalk in over 40 years.  City of Norwalk
  • First-graders at Concord Magnet School in Norwalk ran a vegetable market—preparing produce, setting prices, designing a logo, and creating a song and commercial to advertise the event. The project gave the students hands-on practice in math, science, reading and art for real-life learning.  News 12 Connecticut

FINANCE NEWS

  • Connecticut received relief yesterday when a deal wiped out $219M of medical debt for patients earning up to 400% of the poverty level—this effort is part of a larger plan to clear $30 billion in debt for 20 million Americans. Lawmakers used $6.5M in American Rescue Plan funds and plan to erase $650M in debt by 2026.  Connecticut Public

  • Sunset Stroll

    The Sunset Stroll will be held at The Point at Norwalk Cove. We will have passed around appetizers, entrees, and a signature drink. We will have elected officials and program participants as speakers. We will also have scavenger hunt for the guests to learn about all of our amazing programs. There will be a silent choice auction and a live auction with amazing items.
