ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Norwalk firefighters reported a car carrier caught fire on I-95 south when a brake malfunction sparked flames just before 6 a.m.—the driver attempted to put out the fire with a fire extinguisher, but the flames spread to four of the six vehicles before being controlled and cleared from the highway. CRIME NEWS
- ➤ The jury in the trial of Jose Morales, who is accused of killing Christine Holloway in December 2019, saw new crime scene photos Wednesday showing a rug, chair, and recycling bin from her living room where red substances tested presumptively positive for blood and photos of the bathtub where her body was found. - ➤ First graders at Concord Magnet School hosted their annual vegetable market—a 40-year tradition—as they designed the logo, decorated the school and created a song and commercial to advertise the event; teacher Stephanie Habasinski said the students prepped produce, set up the market and wrote the prices with minimal help. - ➤ The Connecticut House voted Wednesday to re-appoint Marissa Gillett as head of PURA amid questions about high electric bills and secret choices. Her nomination now awaits Senate approval. News 12 Connecticut
- ➤ On April 7, Norwalk’s Board of Estimate and Taxation moved to finish the FY2025 operating budget by shifting funds among departments amid tight money—keeping the library budget at $671,000, raising caseworker pay to $162,711, and setting budgets for water and parking authorities. - ➤ Gov. Lamont vowed Tuesday to keep his $300 million universal preschool plan in place despite budget cuts and possible recession risks—he will use surplus revenue to build an endowment that helps families with lower incomes access free or reduced-price preschool. Sunset Stroll
The Sunset Stroll will be held at The Point at Norwalk Cove. We will have passed around appetizers, entrees, and a signature drink. We will have elected officials and program participants as speakers. We will also have scavenger hunt for the guests to learn about all of our amazing programs. There will be a silent choice auction and a live auction with amazing items.
