COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ Dreamy Hollow is getting relief after years of flooding with a $10.2 million project that was celebrated this week. Engineers moved a water main and installed a second sewer line—city leaders noted the work is expected to cut flooding by 29%. Nancy On Norwalk
- ➤ Norwalk Recreation and Parks will offer a range of spring programs for kids, including an Easter Egg Decorating Class on April 17 at Fodor Farm barn (328 Flax Hill Rd) for ages five and up at $20, and Sewing Camp from April 14 to 17 at Christie’s Quilting Boutique for ages eight and up at $350. Additional sessions in youth sports, swim lessons, and art classes will launch later to help children learn new skills and have fun throughout the season. Nancy On Norwalk
- ➤ Norwalk Garden Club has bright daffodils blooming along Calf Pasture Beach Road from a planting last October, and the club will add more blooms this fall. A redbud tree near Ripka’s Beach Restaurant is now budding to mark the club’s 100th anniversary celebrated in 2024. Nancy On Norwalk

- ➤ On May 9, the Center for Contemporary Printmaking will host an anniversary gala with exclusive tours of HMTX’s Private Art Collection at the House Up on the Hill, and on May 10 it will hold a Birthday Open House featuring live printmaking and a cake celebration free to visitors from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Norwalk studio located in the carriage barn at Mathews Park has 10 print presses and two experienced printers — the only community printmaking studio between New York and Boston celebrating 30 years. - ➤ The Norwalk High School Parents Club is asking the community for donations and volunteer help—after the temporary closure of the school concession stand due to new construction disrupted a key funding source. The funds lost normally support scholarships, student clubs, teacher supplies, and graduation events—so local support is needed to keep essential programs running. Nancy On Norwalk
- ➤ Four Norwalk educators have been awarded 2025 Fund for Teachers Fellowships and will spend the summer traveling to learn new teaching methods. Michelle Amezzene and Laura Bassler from Brien McMahon will visit Spain and France, Melissa O’Donnell will tour Spanish cities, Maria Fox from Westwood will study sustainability in Palau, and Sheiree Powell and Demetria Walters from West Rocks will work on dual language programs in Guatemala and Belize—awards supported by the Dalio and Maxwell/Hanrahan Foundations. - ➤ Emmy-winning science correspondent David Pogue will speak at Norwalk’s Earth Day Festival on April 26 at 11 a.m. at Mill Hill Historic Park—he will present '10 Reasons for Climate Hope' to show practical steps like using solar panels, heat pumps, and reducing beef consumption to help fight the climate crisis. - ➤ The Connecticut Supreme Court declined Alex Jones’ appeal on Tuesday in a defamation case that led to a $1.4 billion verdict for Sandy Hook victims' families—no reason was given for the decision. News 12 Connecticut
- ➤ City officials examined a plan on April 8 to release a $15,100 bond from the White Barn Theater redevelopment site—inspections showed the area is stable and well-vegetated. The final decision on a $23,755 bond will come in the next few weeks as the 15-home conservation development nears completion. Nancy On Norwalk

- ➤ Dr. Mark Goldenberg at the Brain Balance Center in Norwalk said that many children face rising mental health issues like autism, ADHD, and learning disabilities. He is raising awareness and has developed a method to treat autism without using medicine. News 12 Connecticut

Sunset Stroll
The Sunset Stroll will be held at The Point at Norwalk Cove. We will have passed around appetizers, entrees, and a signature drink. We will have elected officials and program participants as speakers. We will also have scavenger hunt for the guests to learn about all of our amazing programs. There will be a silent choice auction and a live auction with amazing items.
