  • A peaceful protest in support of democracy and equal representation is planned for Saturday, April 19 on the Historic Norwalk Green — the event will run from 2 to 3 p.m. Organizers have shifted plans due to high interest — marshals are being recruited and attendees are urged to use public transit.  Nancy On Norwalk

CRIME NEWS

  • Fairfield police charged Norwalk man Jaquan Rosado, 32, with attempted murder after a June 23 shooting on Fiske Street injured a man and damaged his vehicle with bullet holes, and he is held on $350,000 bail, pleaded not guilty, and is scheduled for a court appearance on April 29 at Superior Court in Bridgeport.  The Hour

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Connecticut State Community College Housatonic's newly renovated advanced manufacturing technology center opened with a nine-month training program—funded by nearly $1 million secured by Rep Jim Himes—to prepare students for manufacturing jobs at companies like ASML and Sikorsky.  News 12 Connecticut

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Senate Majority Leader Bob Duff met with the Bike/Walk Commission today in a virtual meeting to talk about grant funds for new sidewalks and local projects. He told the group that changes in federal policy may affect projects like the MLK Corridor and stressed that housing and trail improvements are key for Norwalk—efforts that he plans to support.  Nancy On Norwalk
  • Norwalk officials announced that the Walk Bridge project, which replaces a 120-year-old bridge and will open to commuters in 2029, will see site restoration pushed to 2030—challenges with microtunneling beneath the riverbed and design changes slowed progress; crews are working to improve nearby roadway conditions with repaving planned for the fall.  Nancy On Norwalk
  • Connecticut lawmakers proposed a plan to remove the Public Benefits Charge from electric bills for three years and to change how the state buys wholesale electricity—promising up to 40% savings while shifting costs to state green bonds. Critics including Gov. Ned Lamont worry the plan may lack proper oversight, and a public hearing was held yesterday as the General Assembly prepares to conclude on June 4.  News 12 Connecticut

    The Sunset Stroll will be held at The Point at Norwalk Cove. We will have passed around appetizers, entrees, and a signature drink. We will have elected officials and program participants as speakers. We will also have scavenger hunt for the guests to learn about all of our amazing programs. There will be a silent choice auction and a live auction with amazing items.
