- ➤ Filmmaker Tomas Koeck, a Sacred Heart University alum, debuted his award-winning documentary Flyway of Life on Earth Day at Sacred Heart University Community Theater, showing North American bird migration. He spent two and a half years raising about $250,000 to complete the film — Fairfield Public Library hosted a photography exhibit, book signing and guest speakers. News 12 Connecticut
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Norwalk leaders and residents are debating the use of artificial turf fields because concerns over PFAS chemicals have raised health and environmental risks. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The state launched the Drive Less Connecticut Challenge to promote carpooling, walking, biking and public transit to lower greenhouse gas emissions and ease traffic. In Norwalk, a new micro transit app service is available and the challenge aims to eliminate nearly 40,000 car trips and plant a tree for every 17 trips—with prizes offered on the CTRides App until May 31. - ➤ Public health officials laid off workers and paused contracts after a federal cut of $150 million in COVID-19 funds, and Commissioner Dr. Manisha Juthani said the state will extend programs like syndromic surveillance to catch outbreaks early+local departments worry that reduced funds may harm immunization outreach and lab capacity. Sunset Stroll
The Sunset Stroll will be held at The Point at Norwalk Cove. We will have passed around appetizers, entrees, and a signature drink. We will have elected officials and program participants as speakers. We will also have scavenger hunt for the guests to learn about all of our amazing programs. There will be a silent choice auction and a live auction with amazing items.
