EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Norwalk Public Schools have already cut millions but still need to cut or supplement $6.7 million, and they will consolidate 10 central office positions into three roles (a net loss of 7 jobs) to meet the budget gap. - ➤ Residents, business owners and community members in Norwalk were invited yesterday, April 25th—by the City and Redevelopment Agency—to take a brief online survey available in English, Spanish and Haitian Creole that will help decide if a Business Improvement District will be created, with the survey open until June 5th. - ➤ A proposed seven-day carnival to support the Black Heritage Parade is moving forward after the Norwalk Common Council voted to approve it, even though East Norwalk residents have raised concerns about noise, traffic, and the organizer's permit details. The event is set for June 18 to 24 at Veterans Memorial Park with operations planned from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. each day except on June 24 when it ends at noon, and local residents said they will continue to monitor the situation. Sunset Stroll
The Sunset Stroll will be held at The Point at Norwalk Cove. We will have passed around appetizers, entrees, and a signature drink. We will have elected officials and program participants as speakers. We will also have scavenger hunt for the guests to learn about all of our amazing programs. There will be a silent choice auction and a live auction with amazing items.
