COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Norwalk Seaport Association announced that the Oyster Festival will run from Sept. 5 to 7 with Jimmy Kenny and the Pirate Beach Band headlining on Friday, Parmalee on Saturday, and VOYAGE closing the event on Sunday afternoon — the annual event will offer live music, local seafood, and community fun — and is expected to draw many local residents.  News 12 Connecticut

CRIME NEWS

  • Norman Allen, a 24-year-old Norwalk resident who pleaded guilty to stabbing an individual in October 2023, is scheduled to be sentenced Tuesday to three years in prison and five years of probation—he faces up to an extra seven years if he violates probation and the victim requested mental health treatment.  The Hour
  • A new report found that Connecticut’s human trafficking support system is fragmented—leaving many victims without consistent help. State agencies, law enforcement and community services will hold a stakeholders roundtable to improve communication and data sharing.  The Hour

HEALTH NEWS

  • Nuvance Health finalized its merger with Northwell Health and will update signage at local hospitals immediately—teams are beginning integration planning and scheduling investments such as a new pavilion at Norwalk Hospital over the coming months.  The Hour

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • The 'Starcastle' house in New Fairfield, designed by futurist architect Roy Mason and built in 1985 for Ed Roman, is listed for $1.5 million and features a 5,000 square-foot home on 23.5 acres with four bedrooms and five bathrooms. The home shows unique, science-fiction design elements — including a starburst mahogany door and a loft styled like a spaceship landing — and is staged with furniture from a local Habitat for Humanity ReStore.  The Hour

We will have elected officials and program participants as speakers. We will also have scavenger hunt for the guests to learn about all of our amazing programs. There will be a silent choice auction and a live auction with amazing items.
