  • Norwalk Bagel Co. opened its doors Wednesday serving handcrafted sourdough bagels that take three days to make and a mix of deli classics and baked goods — created by husband-and-wife team Gary and Emily King, who plan to add specialty beverages soon.  The Hour

  • West Rocks Middle School held its first mental health fair on Wednesday where students helped plan activities and 11 community organizations took part to help kids talk about their feelings & lessen stigma.  News 12 Connecticut

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • New winter fishing rules — pending Gov. Lamont’s signature — will take effect in October and require anglers to release all striped bass caught from December through March in state waters such as the Long Island Sound. The rules aim to curb illegal poaching and keep fish populations healthy.  The Hour

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On Tuesday, May 12, the CT Supreme Court sent Eversource Energy's dispute with PURA back to a lower court for review of its claim to recover storm repair costs from the 2017 and 2018 storms — company representatives said they will continue the legal process.  The Hour

HEALTH NEWS

  • Norwalk Hospital research led by Dr. Richard Frank tests early detection via MRI screening and a ketogenic diet in pancreatic cancer while the FDA fast-tracked daraxonrasib, a drug that doubled survival time for advanced cases—researchers seek more participants for the study, including those with new type 2 diabetes.  The Hour
  • Connecticut confirmed its first clade I mpox case after a resident who had traveled from Western Europe tested positive at the State Public Health Laboratory. Health officials said the general public is not at risk and advised those at risk to complete the two-dose (JYNNEOS) vaccine series.  The Hour

  • A recent ConsumerAffairs study showed that buyers in four Connecticut cities required incomes ranging from about $138,520 in Hartford to $227,398 in Bridgeport to afford homes (data from May 13). The report noted Bridgeport homes sold at a median price of $611,634, and nationwide buyers needed an income of $120,796.  The Hour
