EDUCATION NEWS

  • Norwalk Public Schools released a video on May 8 showing over 40 high school students at the Capitol asking lawmakers for more state education aid as funding has not increased since 2013 compared with nearby towns; State Senate Majority Leader Bob Duff later criticized superintendent Alexandra Estrella on Facebook—accusing her of using misleading information while the district defended the event as a genuine educational moment.  Nancy On Norwalk

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Mayor Rilling was honored at Norwalk’s annual police memorial service during National Police Week when police chief James Walsh presented him a flag from May 13 to recognize his service and mark his final memorial as an elected official.   • The Norwalk Common Council approved an easement agreement on May 13—allowing the new seat wall to expand the pedestrian plaza at the junction of Knight, High and Wall Streets as part of a $29 million project honoring jazz pianist Horace Silver. The project has secured $21 million in funding and Phase One, including lighting and safety enhancements, is set to be completed by the end of 2025.  Nancy On Norwalk

There will be a silent choice auction and a live auction with amazing items.
