BUSINESS NEWS

  • JD Sports will open its new store on Saturday at Connecticut Post Mall in Milford while Pandora jewelry is set to debut this summer – there is no update on P.F. Chang’s plans for the mall.  The Hour

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • For over 90 years the Veterans Memorial Committee organized veteran events without official recognition but now a billing dispute is spurring a push to merge it with another group into a chartered commission. City officials are reviewing the matter and will meet with veteran leaders soon.  Nancy On Norwalk
  • Norwalk Fair Housing Officer Zabrina Román stated on Monday that the office saw its busiest intake month in April with 33 cases — above the average of 17. She is working to streamline processes with a new online form and plans to expand help as intakes rise.  Nancy On Norwalk

HEALTH NEWS

  • Connecticut health officials are monitoring an Ebola outbreak in Congo, where over 500 suspected cases and 134 deaths have been reported (the state lab is ready to test for the virus and protocols are in place), and they say the risk to residents remains low.  The Hour
  • Trinity Health of New England expanded its whole blood program at Saint Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury in February. The program uses military training to simplify emergency care and now supplies local ambulances to help reduce fatal injuries in New Haven County.  The Hour

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Kathie Lee Gifford's Greenwich villa (Cedar Cliff) is on the market for $100 million and is the priciest home in Connecticut. The upgraded estate, purchased in 1994, features eight bedrooms with water views and luxury amenities and is represented by Sotheby's International Realty.  The Hour

  • Tarris Reed raised his draft stock at the Draft Combine and NCAA Tournament, and mock drafts now project him as a possible first-round pick — the NBA draft will take place June 23-24 at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center.  The Hour
