  • At Hearst Connecticut Media Group in Norwalk, 101 ballots were cast by eligible editorial employees who voted 68-17 in favor of unionizing, the NLRB announced May 22. The board will certify the results in at least seven days.  The Hour

  • A new Netflix series called Sirens featuring Connecticut’s Kevin Bacon premieres today—he and his wife actor Kyra Sedgwick are regarded as local favorites. Their enduring ties to the area add to the show’s appeal for viewers in Norwalk.  The Hour

ECONOMY NEWS

  • A new report showed Connecticut ranks second in income inequality, with the top 1% earning over 27 percent of state income. The study found that the Bridgeport, Stamford, Norwalk metro area faces steep inequality—high housing costs and uneven school funding widen the gap for many residents.  The Hour

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Connecticut lawmakers unveiled a 92-page housing bill on May 22 that revises parking, zoning, and rental rules to boost home construction while also introducing measures for affordable housing—critics say the compromise gives developers too much freedom.   • AAA Northeast and Connecticut officials are urging teen drivers and parents to follow safe driving tips as the 100 deadliest days—from Memorial Day to Labor Day—approach, noting that from 2020 to 2023, 38% of fatal teen crashes in the state occurred during that period. They recommend avoiding speeding, texting, and riding with multiple teen passengers while emphasizing the importance of wearing seatbelts and driving sober.  The Hour

  • Former UConn quarterback and Shelton native Dan Orlovsky won a Sports Emmy for Outstanding Studio Show-Daily for his work on ESPN's NFL Live—he joined ESPN in 2018 and now covers Monday Night Football along with college games.  The Hour
