EDUCATION NEWS

  • Division 1 college football players visited West Rocks Middle School on Friday to run drills and share career tips with students, emphasizing discipline + the need to balance academics with athletic ambition. The group, including alumni from Norwalk High School, aimed to inspire future talent.  The Hour
  • West Rocks Middle School’s SEL Ambassadors program earned the 2026 Challenge to Educational Citizenship Award from the Connecticut Association of Schools for promoting mental health awareness — the school will get a plaque at the awards ceremony on June 2 at the CAS offices in Cheshire.  Nancy On Norwalk
  • Southern Connecticut State University held its undergraduate commencement at Total Mortgage Arena in Bridgeport on Friday, where 1,600 students gathered and Cam F.   • A Norwalk veterinarian said that ticks carrying bobcat fever may soon affect local cats and advised owners to use tick preventatives and keep pets away from areas where ticks thrive; affected cats can lose weight, become lethargic, and turn yellow until treated (vet Robert Frischer).  The Hour

LIFESTYLE NEWS

  • AAA expects 45 million Americans to travel over 50 miles from home for Memorial Day weekend even as rain is forecast for Connecticut. The organization advises drivers to check vehicle essentials and travel before peak hours—Friday and Saturday before 11 a.m. and Monday before 10 a.m.—to avoid delays.  The Hour
