COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The City of Norwalk will hold a Memorial Day parade on May 26 at 10 a.m., featuring a C-130 plane flyover and Grand Marshal Lt. Col. Howard W Dixon to honor fallen heroes. The Rowayton Memorial Day Parade will take place on May 25 at 12 p.m. with a ceremony at Veterans Cannon and refreshments served at the fire station while some streets will be closed for the event.  Nancy On Norwalk
  • Volunteers from the Norwalk Garden Club planted a patriotic display at The Green on Wednesday by placing 210 large pots of red geraniums—48 flats of white geraniums and 180 flats of ageratums donated by the First Taxing District—as a tribute to fallen service members, and they will maintain the site through the summer. The planting holds special meaning since the club celebrated its 100th anniversary last year.  Nancy On Norwalk

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Sedona Taphouse’s Norwalk location — the only one in CT opened in 2015 — will close on June 30; the chain thanked its guests in a statement and will continue to operate in New York, New Jersey, Virginia, Kentucky, Tennessee, Michigan, and Pennsylvania.  The Hour
  • A new Target is coming soon to 680 Connecticut Ave in Norwalk as the old Walmart building has been transformed into a bright red retail space. The store, which will include Starbucks and CVS Pharmacy inside, is expected to open later in 2025 while hiring is underway — job listings show various roles available.  The Hour
  • On May 21, Ralph J. Battinelli of B3 Power Washing began cleaning the facade of the downtown Macy's in Stamford—he worked with local internet personality Mike Squires until weather halted progress on Thursday, with work set to resume Friday and expected to continue until June 12.  The Hour

CULTURE NEWS

  • Norwalk High School will open its 2025 Art Show next Tuesday, May 27, in the school library (23 Calvin Murphy Dr.) where work from NHS and P-Tech students will be on display until Friday, May 30. Guests will enjoy a DIY photo booth, scavenger hunt and sales of custom-made button pins on opening night.  Nancy On Norwalk

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Norwalk’s Calf Pasture, Bell Island, and Rowayton beaches earned A+ water quality marks from Save the Sound’s 2025 report, which noted that scores have improved since 2022—Marvin Beach improved to a B+ from a B- last year.  Nancy On Norwalk

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Representatives of the Hamlet project confirmed that their firm purchased Norwalk's Calf Pasture Island and half of Betts Island in 2023—planning to offer charter boat trips as an amenity—and are now awaiting town approval with final development plans expected in early summer.  Nancy On Norwalk
