- ➤ Anne Moreno, daughter of late Navy veteran Jon Barnard who died on April 28 after battling cancer, is hosting a swim-a-thon today at 8 Willard Road to honor his legacy and repay Swim Across the Sound for the help he received during his treatment. The fundraiser runs from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and charges $25 for swimmers with discounted fees for survivors—offering support to cancer patients in need. The Hour

- ➤ Budget airlines such as Avelo and Breeze have boosted passenger traffic at small airports in Connecticut and nearby New York—Tweed New Haven Airport saw a 1,100% jump in departures after Avelo began flights in 2021 and Westchester Airport now handles nearly 1.2 million departing passengers. - ➤ Beardsley Zoo announced on May 22 that it had received an 11-month-old female red panda named Ponya from the Detroit Zoo — part of a Species Survival Plan to help endangered red pandas. - ➤ Norwalk Hospital’s new owner is providing capital and expertise to restart a delayed $220M patient tower project that will modernize care by creating larger, family-friendly rooms—hospital officials plan to relocate services like the behavioral health unit to keep the hospital running during construction. We will have elected officials and program participants as speakers. We will also have scavenger hunt for the guests to learn about all of our amazing programs. There will be a silent choice auction and a live auction with amazing items.
