EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Manresa Island Corp announced its new research and education station (R.E.S.A) at Manresa Wilds in Veteran's Memorial Park and Marina. The nonprofit will partner with local and regional groups, including Norwalk Public Schools and leading science institutions, to fund outdoor field studies with a $500,000 investment. - ➤ Norwalk Public Schools held a ceremony to rename South Norwalk Neighborhood School as Dr. Ruby Shaw Elementary School. The renaming honors the longtime educator (school social worker, magnet school creator, and Board member) who taught at Norwalk Community College until her death in 2019. News 12 Connecticut
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Norwalk City Council praised a pilot nonprofit accelerator program that provided local nonprofit leaders with coaching and consulting during six monthly cohort learning sessions. Funding for a new cohort will get full council approval on June 9. Nancy On Norwalk
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ The CIAC boys volleyball state tournament runs from Tuesday, June 2 through Friday, June 12 with game results updated nightly. Norwalk teams will face top-seeded opponents as bracket match-ups progress & listings detail rounds from the second stage to the finals. The Hour
- ➤ The Connecticut Sun will host the Los Angeles Sparks in Hartford at 6 p.m. today at PeoplesBank Arena. French star Leila Lacan will debut while Aaliyah Edwards sits out due to concussion. The Hour
- ➤ The 2026 CIAC high school baseball tournament begins today and runs until Saturday, June 13, with first-round games at 3:30 p.m. and championship matches at Palmer Field (Middletown), where game results will be posted nightly. The Hour
