EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Norwalk Board of Education unanimously approved an amended FY2026 operating budget Wednesday night after Mayor Harry Rilling allocated an extra $500K in city funds to restore two special education assistant director positions and create a new early childhood role. Board members said the decision followed a turbulent budget season—marked by public outcry and staffing cuts—that left several key programs at risk.  Nancy On Norwalk

SPORTS NEWS

  • Rookie Aneesah Morrow scored 16 points, grabbed 9 rebounds, and recorded 3 steals in 23 minutes off the bench for the Connecticut Sun on June 18 at Mohegan Sun Arena in a loss to the Phoenix Mercury. She helped spark an 8 to 0 run that narrowed the gap — teammates praised her strong play as the team prepares to face UConn national champion Paige Bueckers and the Dallas Wings in upcoming games.  The Hour
  • At the Travelers Championship Women’s Day Breakfast, UConn associate head coach Chris Dailey explained that after a season record of 37 wins and 3 losses the team must lean on Azzi Fudd to be a more vocal leader when new players join for the upcoming season—she was named Most Outstanding Player at the Final Four. He also recalled an odd greeting at a public event and said the team celebrated the championship win for nearly a week.  The Hour
