CRIME NEWS

  • Jury deliberations continued on Friday in the murder trial of former Norwalk official Ellen Wink, who pleaded not guilty to fatally shooting her tenant Kurt Lametta in 2022—closing arguments were presented by the state and prosecution on Wednesday.  The Hour

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Crews removed three 7.5 million-gallon oil tanks from Manresa Island, clearing 76,000 square feet for environmental cleanup that will help turn the abandoned power plant into a 125-acre public park, beach and event space. Developers will hold a public meeting on July 13 from 1 to 4 p.m. at The Cove in Norwalk — a key step toward testing toxins and getting permits — as plans move forward to open part of the site by 2027.  News 12 Connecticut

  • State lawmakers ended the legislative session without passing any bills to regulate private equity in health care after Prospect Medical declared bankruptcy in January. Gov. Lamont’s proposal to expand state review and a Senate bill aimed at limiting private equity deals—both stalled amid disagreements—left the state without new oversight measures.  Connecticut Public
