CT DOT has proposed a 5% Metro-North fare increase starting in September with an additional 5% rise planned for next summer—officials said the adjustments will help cover rising costs and maintain rail services.

A public hearing was held Monday night at Ferguson Library to discuss the proposal.

Norwalk began delivering new 65-gallon trash bins with a red lid to most eligible households as it moves to an automated waste collection system in July.
