Today, the Maritime Aquarium at Norwalk opened the Meet Lorikeets exhibit where visitors can see free-roaming lorikeets in a tented aviary that runs until Labor Day.
Guests may purchase $5 nectar cups to feed the birds — a feature of an immersive experience included with general admission — while exploring other interactive exhibits at the aquarium.
Norwalk Public Schools launched its 17th annual Summer Meals Program on June 23 to offer one free breakfast and lunch daily for children 18 and under at 10 meal sites—partnering with local health and food groups to help counter rising food insecurity.
The program will run through mid-August and requires meals to be eaten onsite as mandated by state guidelines.
AnaVivian Escalante will leave her role as the city’s human services director on July 18 to join Norwalk ACTS as CEO on July 28 — she was appointed in April 2022.
City officials said the search for her replacement will begin in the coming weeks with a focus on candidates skilled in community resource coordination.
