ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Monday night, high winds and rain toppled the canopy of the Sunoco gas station on Main Avenue — one person inside remained unharmed as the fire marshall inspected the damage and said no repair timeline was set.  News 12 Connecticut

CRIME NEWS

  • Jianming Zeng—a fugitive who escaped from a New Hampshire prison on Saturday and was driving a stolen pickup truck—was arrested in Norwalk after he tried to pay for gas with a box of change at a Mobil station on West Avenue; security footage showed him bloody and in only a shirt and underwear, prompting the gas station owner to call police and leading to his detention on a $500,000 bond.  News 12 Connecticut
  • Norwalk man Troy Brannen pleaded guilty on Monday to criminal attempt at first-degree assault in the 2023 Garner Street shooting—he faces four years in prison and four years of probation with sentencing set for Sept. 29, while the other two suspects had already pleaded guilty.  The Hour

  • Connecticut and 23 other states — along with Washington D.C. — sued the federal government over withheld education funds that could cost the state $53 million and disrupt school programs.   • Josh Elliott, a longtime lawmaker from Hamden, launched his bid for governor and said Gov. Lamont has not helped working people enough.
