  • Norwalk police said a pickup truck struck 84-year-old Josephine Pimpinella while she crossed Cedar Street near the local shopping centers Saturday — police are still investigating the crash and have not located any next of kin.  The Hour

  • Norwalk will welcome Connecticut's first Wegmans supermarket opening on July 23 at 9 a.m. at 675 Connecticut Ave.—the 92,000-square-foot store will feature a Market Café, solar panel parking deck, and three driveway entrances.  The Hour

CRIME NEWS

  • On July 13th, Zakaria Sedda at his Mobil station in Norwalk spotted a bloodied, shoeless man in a shirt and underwear—who was trying to buy gas for a stolen truck—and immediately called police; authorities later identified the suspect as escaped fugitive Jianming Zeng with several lacerations.  The Hour

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Connecticut Attorney General William Tong said that a new filing accused Prospect Medical Holdings of deceptive practices—cutting vital services, reducing staff, and dodging taxes at its three Connecticut hospitals. The draft complaint was added to the bankruptcy process last week to secure the state's role in the upcoming auction sale as multiple parties express interest in the troubled hospitals.  The Hour
