- ➤ On Sunday, July 13, more than 1,000 people gathered at The Point at Norwalk Cove to end the first phase of community feedback for redesigning Manresa Island Park, which will be renamed Manresa Wilds. - ➤ Three local artists—Fivefingaz, Jahmane West, and Oksana Tanasiv—presented proposals for the Ely Avenue Fencing Project to the Arts and Culture Commission, detailing designs that involve community participation. - ➤ At a Tuesday board meeting, Norwalk Public Schools learned they may lose over $1 million in federal grants that help fund key programs if Congress does not release the funds by August 14. - ➤ The City of Norwalk awarded $146,194.50 in mini-grants to 18 local nonprofits Wednesday outside City Hall as part of the 2025 Mini-Grant Program to support groups in Health, Education, and Safety Net services—award amounts were based on scores evaluating service, impact, and equity. - ➤ Governor Ned Lamont and State Rep. Kadeem Roberts held a ceremonial signing event on July 17 at The Carver in Norwalk to mark SB 1542, a law that bans handcuffing children under 14 except in limited cases and raises the arrest age.
