- ➤ After a five-year break due to the COVID-19 pandemic, American Legion Post 12 in Norwalk will resume its bingo nights at its upstairs hall at 60 County Street. - ➤ The Goo Goo Dolls will perform with Dashboard Confessional at the Hartford Healthcare Amphitheater in Bridgeport on August 8 at 7:30 p.m.—tickets range from $106 to $1,195 for VIP access. - ➤ In Deep River near the Connecticut River, state officials and local residents clashed on Friday after efforts to correct false claims about diquat—used in an EPA-approved program to control invasive hydrilla—became heated. - ➤ Former state Rep. Fred Wilms, a longtime financial executive and Norwalk resident, announced his candidacy for state treasurer and said he will focus on reforming the underfunded pension system, reducing state debt and increasing accountability — pledging to act as a taxpayer watchdog.
