On July 24th, community members gathered outside the Norwalk Police Department for an event led by Liberation Programs and police during National Deflection Week to learn how to reverse opioid overdoses using free Narcan kits and fentanyl test strips—attendees also received hands-on demonstrations and guidance on recognizing overdose signs and the need for emergency hospital care after Narcan use.

The invasive spotted lanternfly has been found in every county in Connecticut, with the largest groups in Fairfield and New Haven, and it weakens trees by feeding on their sap.

Researchers say that predators like bats — parasitic wasps will eventually join in to lower the pest numbers as local species adjust.

Gov. Ned Lamont launched a $300 million Early Childhood Endowment at Trinity College that provides free child care for kids aged six weeks to five years for families with incomes under $100k, and the fund will grow to a billion dollars by summer 2027 using future state surpluses & a 6.9% interest rate.
