- ➤ A new report from nonprofit groups found that land use boards in Fairfield and New London counties are mostly made up of white, male homeowners compared to local populations—Fairfield boards show 70% male and 94% white membership while the county is 49% male and 58% white, and the report suggests that including renters could lead to fairer decisions. - ➤ Sen. Blumenthal and Rep. Larson demanded the release of Afghan interpreter Ziaulhaq Shinwari after ICE arrested him on July 16 in East Hartford while he was taking biometrics for his green card—he is now held in Plymouth, Mass after a federal judge temporarily stayed his removal order.
