  • Ten Norwalk entrepreneurs took the stage Wednesday night at the Maritime Aquarium in a 'Shark Tank'-style event organized by the city's Business Development and Tourism Department — finalists showcased plans ranging from coffee and dumplings to microgreens and leather goods, with winners to be announced after judge deliberation.  Nancy On Norwalk

CRIME NEWS

  • A Norwalk man was arrested Wednesday for a fatal April crash that killed a moped rider and faces charges of second-degree manslaughter—operating under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs and violating a limited license, with a $50,000 bond and a court appearance scheduled for August 14 in Stamford.  The Hour

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The Maritime Aquarium in Norwalk received a $150,000 grant from the NAA Tax Credit Program to install additional rooftop solar panels that will lower the facility’s grid energy use — contributions include $135,000 from Chubb, $10,000 from ConnectiCare and $5,000 from Santa Energy.  Nancy On Norwalk
  • The Norwalk Tree Alliance is launching the free Treesure Hunt from Aug. 11 through Sept. 1 to inspire families, teens, and nature lovers to explore parks, schools, and neighborhoods by scanning QR codes to learn about native trees. Participants receive a free shade tree and a chance to win an Xbox Series S while residents can also claim a tree by emailing Courville Nurseries (rules apply).  Nancy On Norwalk

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Drivers on the Merritt Parkway now see both old & new exit numbers to help them adjust during a transition that began Monday as the state DOT unveiled a mileage-based system, and 'OLD EXIT' signs will remain for at least two years. The DOT will update GPS systems as it continues renumbering exits through 2030.  The Hour
  • Eversource finished its work on the Norwalk Bridge Replacement Project, which officials say improved train speed and performance. The next phase will expand the city's electrical grid — a step aimed at boosting service along the Northeast corridor.  News 12 Connecticut
  • The Norwalk Charter Revision Commission advanced proposals Wednesday night to extend elected officials' terms, expand council representation, and change council pay by linking it to the mayor’s salary — the measures also call for line-item budget submissions and clearer appointment rules. The proposals will return to the Common Council for review and could be voted on Nov. 4 after the next meeting on Tuesday, Aug. 5.  Nancy On Norwalk
