- ➤ The Norwalk Senior Center will host its first charity pickleball tournament on Sept. 13 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. — with a rain date on Sept. 14 — in association with Fyzical Therapy and Balance Centers. Teams of two players age 50 and older will pay a $50 fee and play at least three games, and proceeds will benefit the nonprofit at 11 Allen Road. Nancy On Norwalk
- ➤ David Muccigrosso wrote a letter to the editor to correct claims that Washington Street is half empty by noting that 32 of the 40 ground floor retail spaces are occupied—an 80 percent rate that has increased from the previous 75 percent. Nancy On Norwalk

- ➤ Connecticut’s 26th annual Sales Tax Free Week runs from Sunday, Aug. 17 through Saturday, Aug. 23 — shoppers pay no 6.35% tax on most clothing and footwear under $100 if they pay during the week. - ➤ The Norwalk Transit District launched a new bus network on August 11 that cuts fixed routes from 14 to seven and uses three hubs to simplify transfers. - ➤ On August 7, city officials in Norwalk unveiled a new sign at the Heritage Wall and a monument at Veterans Park to honor Purple Heart recipients, prisoners of war and those missing in action.
