BUSINESS NEWS

  • A new PGA Tour Superstore will open in Norwalk on Saturday, August 16th—offering an indoor putting green, high-tech swing studios, and free lesson clinics for new and seasoned golfers. Customers can reserve practice bays to play full games when snowy weather limits outdoor play.  The Hour

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • State officials said that new federal cuts will cost Connecticut an extra $32 million for SNAP in fiscal year 2026 and nearly $43 million each year starting fiscal year 2027—plus the state will pay an extra $130 million annually for food benefits beginning in October. Lawmakers will meet this fall to consider proposals that could address these rising costs.  Connecticut Public
  • The Department of Justice announced a proposed settlement with Greystar to stop using pricing algorithms that share competitors' data, a practice seen as harmful to fair competition. If approved by the court, Greystar—one of the largest landlords managing nearly 950,000 rental units including some in Connecticut—will need to change its pricing methods.  The Hour

  • Wegmans announced a recall of several cheese products due to potential listeria contamination—affected items sold from July 1 to Aug. 12 must not be consumed and should be returned for a full refund.
