- ➤ Shelton-based Hubbell announced a deal to acquire Carson-based DMC Power for $825 million, which will add over 350 employees and facilities in Carson, Olive Branch, and across North America. The acquisition is expected to finalize by the end of the year—boosting Hubbell’s offerings for utility infrastructure projects. The Hour
- ➤ Norwalk’s long-awaited Target store opened early this month at 680 Connecticut Ave—attended by Mayor Henry Rilling and Common Council members during a ribbon cutting; it features a CVS Pharmacy, Starbucks, and offers same day-delivery, drive-up orders, and pick-up services while operating daily from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. The new location is part of Target’s nationwide buildup to open large stores across the country. - ➤ Norwalk native Chris Cafero will perform his one-night comedy special Taking My Lumps at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, August 20 at the Crystal Theater in the Ben Franklin School on Bayview Avenue—half of the show proceeds will be donated to the theater. - ➤ Local and state leaders gathered on Thursday at Naramake Elementary School's ballfield for the steel topping-off ceremony on the new Norwalk High School/P-TECH building, marking a key milestone with the final beam installed. The $239 million project—funded at 80% by the state to save taxpayer money—is set to serve 2,000 students when it opens in fall and will replace the old high school built in 1971. Nancy On Norwalk

- ➤ Norwalk Transit District launched a redesigned bus system today with seven new routes, three micro-stations, and 30 days of free fares to help riders adjust. The overhaul also includes changes to two-way traffic on Burnell Blvd—shifting bus directions—to streamline schedules. Nancy On Norwalk
- ➤ Norwalk Police Department launched its new Monthly Norwalk Police Dashboard—an online tool offering updated crime statistics, calls for service, accident data and community policing details—and the tool will be updated monthly on the city's official website. Nancy On Norwalk
- ➤ Norwalk Mayor Harry Rilling said Friday that ICE agents were uninvited from using the police department parking lot at Monroe Street headquarters—local officials directed them to leave as they work to keep city facilities safe. He is meeting with city lawyers and state leaders to explore restrictions that would prevent unauthorized federal use in town. The Hour
- ➤ Norwalk Charter Revision Commission on Aug. 12th voted 5-3 to let the council appoint a nonvoting member to the Board of Estimate and Taxation through an ordinance—this new public process may allow a mayoral veto—and they also removed a sentence from the controller’s duties as it was seen unnecessary.
