ECONOMY NEWS

  • The Connecticut Department of Labor will release its July jobs report this week using survey data from households and businesses to estimate employment trends—officials noted that lower response rates since the pandemic may lead to revisions. HEALTH NEWS

  • Scientists confirm that West Nile virus cases are rising as infected mosquitoes were found in Bridgeport and Greenwood Lake. The CDC reports 219 cases nationally (with 119 serious) and advises removing standing water and using bug spray to avoid bites.  News 12 Connecticut

SPORTS NEWS

  • Fairfield National Little League won 5-1 over Honolulu and started 2-0 in Williamsport, and today they play Sioux Falls S.D. at 7 p.m. on ESPN — a win will move them closer to the U.S. Championship game.  The Hour
  • UConn coach Dan Hurley said on Aug 14 that his father Bob urged him to leave UConn for the Lakers job — he did not follow that advice because his father never left high school coaching. Hurley signed a six-year, $50 million contract with UConn after winning two national titles — and he will release his book 'Never Stop' on Sept 30.  The Hour
