  • Today, Norwalk Tree Alliance partnered with Courville Nurseries to offer free trees to residents—for a cooler city and stronger tree canopy. The program provides native trees and planting tips and aims to beat its Tree Master Plan goal by 10 years—finishing well before 2053.  Nancy On Norwalk

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Immigrant advocates from Danbury, Norwalk and New Haven rallied outside Danbury Superior Court to demand that state lawmakers strengthen the TRUST Act as ICE presence surged statewide. Norwalk officials said on August 14 and 15 that ICE officers used the city’s police lot without permission—raising local concern.  Connecticut Public
  • Connecticut officials have condemned online hate and threats against State Rep. Corey Paris after his post about an ICE presence in Stamford led extremist groups to share his address and target him with racist taunts—police are investigating the incident and leaders from both parties have denounced the harassment.  Connecticut Public
  • The Norwalk Police Department introduced its first law enforcement support canine—K9 Chance—on Wednesday morning at police headquarters. Donated by Maxine and Kenneth Maiocco, Chance completed a three-month training with Officer Phil Taborda and will serve during school visits and community events.  Nancy On Norwalk
