- ➤ Amtrak’s new NextGen Acela train will launch on August 28 with stops in Stamford and New Haven’s Union Station as it begins service on the Northeast Corridor. In Connecticut the train will run at 75 mph on a 7-mile stretch near Milford and reach up to 95 mph on a 6-mile segment near Branford—speeds set by state and federal limits. The Hour

- ➤ Fairfield National beat Aruba 4-2 in the Little League World Series consolation game on August 24—pitchers Tommy D’Amura and the Taxiltaridis twins powered the win. The team returned home today as the first Connecticut squad to finish third in the world since 1957. The Hour
