EDUCATION NEWS

  • South Norwalk Elementary School held its first classes on Monday as the neighborhood’s first community school in more than 40 years—this new 86,332 square-foot building broke ground in April 2024, cost $86 million with 60% reimbursed by a state program, and now serves pre-K to third grade with plans to add fourth and fifth grades.  News 12 Connecticut

SPORTS NEWS

  • Sacred Heart men’s basketball will feature the Gittens brothers this season—assistant coach Donte, freshman Da'mnic 'Mooda,' and transfer Dashon from FIU—as they join the Pioneers with games starting on November 4.  The Hour
  • Fairfield National finished third at the Little League World Series in South Williamsport—where the 12-player team from Connecticut advanced from regionals in Bristol and played in several intense games.  The Hour
  • The Fairfield National Little League team of mostly 12-year-olds finished third at the Little League World Series after a 23-day run—the best finish for a Connecticut team since 1957—and returned home to local fans who celebrated their historic achievement.
