CRIME NEWS

  • A Norwalk police officer pulled over Romell Fisher at 9:15 p.m. for driving without a license after recognizing him from previous narcotics cases—a K-9 unit then alerted officers who found marijuana, cocaine, and two ecstasy pills in his car.  News 12 Connecticut

CULTURE NEWS

  • Singer-songwriter Al Pascarelli and his band, The Moonrise Cartel, will open for country group Parmalee at Norwalk’s Oyster Festival on Sept. 6 at 7 p.m. — the performance supports the Norwalk Seaport Association and highlights the band's local roots.  Nancy On Norwalk

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Norwalk school district reported 108 educator vacancies in August, including 74 open teaching roles with 33 in special education. Officials say other districts statewide still face many staff gaps as they work to hire educators for the new school year — a challenge that may impact local classrooms.  The Hour

  • On Wednesday evening, the League of Women Voters of Norwalk hosted a 'Meet the Candidates' forum where residents heard from mayoral hopefuls Barbara Smyth, Darlene Young, Erik Vitaglione, and Vinny Scicchitano as well as candidates for other local offices discussing issues like traffic, overdevelopment, affordable housing, and school challenges—while a tribute was held for former council member Greg Burnett who died last week.  Nancy On Norwalk
