COMMUNITY NEWS

  • A community refrigerator was unveiled yesterday in Norwalk as part of a partnership between Food Rescue US and Community Health Center Inc.—it supplies fresh, locally sourced food to help combat food insecurity. It will be open on Tuesday and Thursday from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. for all residents.  News 12 Connecticut
  • This Sunday the Bigelow Tea Community Challenge will be held at Wakeman Boys and Girls Club in Southport from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.—over 800 people are expected to join the event featuring a 5K run, 3K walk, kids fun run, and virtual options to support local charities.  News 12 Connecticut

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The updated FAFSA form for the 2026—27 school year opened online on September 24, offering students a way to apply for federal aid and state grants. Connecticut students must complete the form by February 15 for state priority while the federal deadline is June 30.  The Hour

HEALTH NEWS

  • At a Hartford news conference, Connecticut’s top public health official Dr. Manisha Juthani said acetaminophen remains the safest over-the-counter pain reliever for pregnant women despite FDA warnings linking its use with autism—she urged women not to feel shame if they used it during pregnancy.  The Hour
  • A federal vaccine panel led by Robert F. Kennedy Jr. recommended splitting the MMRV shot for babies aged 12 to 18 months, removing a choice for Connecticut parents who preferred the combined shot. Dr. Manisha Juthani said most pediatricians already advised the split shot to lower the risk of fever-induced seizures—about 17% of families had chosen the combined option.  Connecticut Public
