  • Stratford-based Sikorsky won a $10-billion deal to build almost 100 CH-53K transport helicopters for the U.S. Marine Corps; the contract — set to run until 2033 — will keep many Connecticut workers busy.  Connecticut Public

  • James Beard award-winning chef David Pasternack will cook a Faroe Island salmon dish at Stew Leonard's in Norwalk today and tomorrow from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.—customers can speak with him, sample the dish, and learn why the Faroe Islands are known for quality salmon.  The Hour

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Hundreds of thousands of birds fly south in a fall migration over Connecticut as cool weather and northwesterly winds push flocks of hawks, geese, and shorebirds along their routes. Local birders can join the movement—today, the Greenwich Audubon Center hosts its Hawk Watch Fest.  The Hour

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Connecticut lawmakers approved dozens of new laws that will take effect Oct 1, expanding discrimination protections, updating the Trust Act, reclassifying electric bikes, banning first cousin marriages, and setting penalties for illegal street takeovers while also restricting handcuffs on children and revising hunting rules on private land. The measures will also regulate purchasing cards used by state agencies for better spending oversight.  Connecticut Public
  • Connecticut officials announced on Tuesday a new rule that bans ICE agents from making arrests inside state courthouses without a judicial warrant—Chief Justice Raheem Mullins, Gov. HEALTH NEWS

  • Connecticut hospitals and health centers are working to get federal money from a $50 billion rural grant to help patients and train staff in rural areas. State agencies are leading the effort, with applications due by November 5 and awards given by year-end—funding will begin early 2026 to support long-term care improvements.  Connecticut Public

  • 6R Capital Group sold its 129-room EVEN Hotel Norwalk to Westport-based V2 Capital Management on Wednesday, placing the hotel next to Merritt 7 Corporate Park—its outdoor patio, fire pits, in-room fitness space, and full service restaurant will benefit from planned capital improvements. The change in ownership reflects a strategic repositioning that aims to unlock future value for the property.  The Hour
