  • Coach Geno Auriemma will debut his charity golf tournament at Norwalk's Shorehaven Golf Club on Tuesday, Oct. 7 using a shamble format starting at noon. A fundraising dinner is set from 5—8 p.m. to benefit Connecticut Children's—organizers report over $37,000 has been donated so far.  The Hour
  • After a church attack in Michigan on September 28 that killed four people, Connecticut faith leaders have updated their security plans to protect worshipers—while keeping their churches open and welcoming as state funding supports these improvements.  The Hour

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Yesterday, Mayor Rilling and Senator Duff announced plans for a new state-of-the-art West Rocks Middle School as part of Norwalk’s 25-year plan; the two-year construction will finish Fall with a 60% state reimbursement that is expected to save millions for the city.  City of Norwalk

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Officials said that if the federal government shuts down on Oct. 1 the WIC program, serving over 50,000 women and children, may run out of funds within one or two days, which would force many offices to close. The shutdown plan could also increase the demand on local food pantries as SNAP and other related services struggle to operate.  The Hour
