- ➤ Friday's Mega Millions drawing produced no jackpot winners in Connecticut and 5,088 winning tickets with the highest state prize at $2,500 while the jackpot reached $600 million for the 11th time in history; the highest national win was $40,000. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Norwalk officials plan to build a new West Rocks Middle School on the site of the 2020 soccer complex that may be torn down to make room for the school. The $125 million project is scheduled to begin construction in 2028 and be finished by 2030 — local neighbors have raised concerns about losing a park and potential flooding risks. The Hour
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Senate approved $5 billion to help build the new Columbia-class submarines and to fund work at Electric Boat—Pratt & Whitney and Sikorsky in Connecticut. The bill, part of the National Defense Authorization Act, is expected to boost local jobs and modernize the Navy’s fleet. The Hour
- ➤ Norwalk is installing a record 10.9 miles of new sidewalks this year under the Complete Streets ordinance to improve road safety and accessibility—projects include work on Grumman Avenue, West Rocks Road, and school routes, and construction will pause in December when asphalt plants close.
