  • Fourteen Norwalk restaurants are partnering to raise funds and provide holiday meals for over 500 families this season—by selling discount books and hosting a raffle for free meals.   • Michael J. Bielawa and Christina E. Cole have published books that document eerie legends along Long Island Sound—covering tales like Captain Kidd's buried treasure and haunted lighthouses. ENVIRONMENT NEWS

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • A $3.5 million state grant is funding a renovation of Veterans Memorial Park Marina dock to expand public waterfront access and update berthing for vessels and personal watercraft by replacing floats, pilings, fixed piers and ramps. The project — which will also enhance ADA access, tidal wetlands and parking while introducing a new facility design — is set to begin this fall or winter.  The Hour
  • Connecticut officials warned that SNAP benefits will stop on Nov 1—if the federal shutdown persists—and nearly 360,000 residents may lose essential grocery aid.   • Connecticut’s health insurance open enrollment begins November 1 and runs through January 15 for plans starting February 1.
