- ➤ Norwalk nonprofits are bracing for the likely end of SNAP benefits on November 1 as the government shutdown continues — they are revising budgets, asking donors for extra help, and preparing to pick up surplus food from local businesses. - ➤ An NYC-based bakery chain from Sex and the City will open its first Connecticut location in Fairfield County, with Stamford resident Kelly Fitzpatrick set to run the new Magnolia Bakery between late summer and early fall. - ➤ Yesterday, Mayor Rilling announced that the Connecticut Economic Development Association reaffirmed Norwalk’s Gold Level Status in economic development and land use planning — a designation that recognizes the city as a regional hub for over 1,500 businesses including Wegmans, PGA TOUR Superstore and Target. - ➤ Gun safety advocate Kristin Song, whose son accidentally died in 2018, said she sees progress as nearly 1,700 guns have been collected statewide since 2021 at gun buyback events—she will continue to push for mandatory safe storage laws while offering free gun safes to help keep children safe. Police in Norwalk and other communities participated last year in these efforts, which aim to prevent future tragedies. The Hour
- ➤ A new AAA study found that 36 percent of drivers did not slow down & move over for roadside vehicles even though Connecticut has strict move-over laws designed to protect emergency responders and workers.
