CULTURE NEWS

  • Students at Wolfpit Elementary School enjoyed a sneak peek of Footloose when performers from the Norwalk Conservatory of the Arts visited today—sharing songs, dance numbers and theater stories. The production will run Nov. 13 to Nov. 16 at the Klein Memorial in Bridgeport.  News 12 Connecticut

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Padma Lakshmi — known for hosting Top Chef for 19 seasons and earning five Emmy nominations — will speak at Fairfield University's Quick Center in an upcoming event.  The Hour
  • Twenty-seven Norwalk P-TECH seniors will earn a high school diploma and an associate’s degree in June by taking courses at both their high school and CT State Community College—earning college credit through dual enrollment and Advanced Placement courses that may let them start college as juniors.  The Hour

HEALTH NEWS

  • The Connecticut Department of Public Health and the Department of Aging and Disability Services launched a free guide on November 3rd to help caregivers make homes safe and plan care for loved ones with dementia. The guide offers tips on spotting signs of dementia and care advice and is available (in English) and (in Spanish).  Connecticut Public

SPORTS NEWS

  • GametimeCT's Top 10 football poll showed Killingly overtook Greenwich for the No.2 spot after a 60-13 win and New Britain entered the Top 10 with a 30-28 comeback win over Maloney+Berlin dropped out following its debut. The rankings stayed steady for New Canaan, Wilton, and Hand while Fairfield Prep and Windsor now tie at No.4, and three Top 10 matchups are set for Friday.  The Hour
  • Sean and Pete host The Meat Grinder LIVE to review Week 8 of Connecticut high school football, where St. Joseph beat Staples, Greenwich defeated Fairfield Ludlowe, Killingly won, and Fairfield Prep claimed victory with a game-winning field goal over North Haven— they also discussed shifts in the GametimeCT Top 10 poll and other key results from the week.  The Hour
  • UConn basketball teams will appear on multiple networks this season — the women’s team opens today on ESPN at the U.S. Naval Academy while further contests will be shown on FOX Sports, FS1, truTV, TNT, NBC Sports, and Peacock; the men’s opener streamed on ESPN+ Monday and upcoming games will air on FOX Sports, truTV, and TNT.   • FOOTLOOSE the MUSICAL OPENS TOMORROW NIGHT!

    The Norwalk Conservatory of the Arts proudly presents the explosive Broadway musical Footloose, opening Thursday night, Nov. 13 at 8 PM at The Klein Memorial Auditorium in Bridgeport and runs through Sunday, Nov. 16th. Brimming with vitality, heart, and hit songs, Footloose showcases the Conservatory’s outstanding musical theatre students in a production that celebrates the power of expression and the joy of dance and brings fresh life to this beloved story of a small town finding its rhythm again.
