  • Longtime meteorologist Geoff Fox died Tuesday night at 75 after a lengthy cancer battle. He spent nearly three decades on local TV and left behind his wife and daughter — his work earned him seven Emmy awards and high regard from viewers.  The Hour
  • With the federal shutdown pausing SNAP benefits, thousands of Connecticut residents lost critical food help. In response, Person to Person expanded its food programs by 50%—serving local families and seniors six days a week in its seven-town area.  Nancy On Norwalk

CULTURE NEWS

  • Norwalk artist Oksana Tanasiv said she is disappointed with the Arts and Culture Commission after her design for the Ely Avenue mural—on which she worked for 18 months and earned 61% of community votes—was rejected in favor of another artist’s proposal. She maintained that her plan to involve local kids showed true community collaboration and stressed her commitment to defending her artistic reputation.  Nancy On Norwalk
  • CT musician Derek Piotr is recording forgotten folk songs from Connecticut and abroad (including local tunes, international folk, and historic ballads) to preserve cultural heritage and has gathered over 1,600 recordings with support from a Connecticut Community Foundation grant.  The Hour

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • On November 11, Connecticut residents saw the Northern Lights shimmer in red, pink and green hues as three coronal mass ejections reached Earth and pushed the lights low enough to be seen. Photographers in towns from Mystic to Hamden captured the rare event — many sharing images when brief breaks in cloud cover let the display shine.  The Hour

HEALTH NEWS

  • Federal officials expanded a recall of ByHeart baby formula after a nationwide outbreak of infant botulism had hospitalized 15 babies, and the company voluntarily recalled all of its Whole Nutrition Infant Formula products. Connecticut parents were warned Tuesday by the Department of Public Health to avoid buying the product and to discard any formula at home—health care providers were advised to monitor infants for symptoms.  The Hour

Brimming with vitality, heart, and hit songs, Footloose showcases the Conservatory’s outstanding musical theatre students in a production that celebrates the power of expression and the joy of dance and brings fresh life to this beloved story of a small town finding its rhythm again.
