COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Thanksgiving Day in Connecticut will see many stores and offices closed or operating on limited hours, as banks, government offices, liquor stores, and major retailers like Target remain closed while local options such as Stew Leonard's (7 a.m. to 5 p.m.) and Wegmans (6 a.m. to 4 p.m.) plan reduced schedules. Shoppers are advised to check with their local stores as some grocery chains and cannabis dispensaries adjust their hours.  The Hour

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Federal tax credits for electric vehicles ended in September and November 30 will mark two months since the change, with local owners noting a strong sales push before the credits expired. State rebates in Connecticut were lowered amid rising demand, and buyers remain unsure if incentives will soon return to previous levels — a sign the state is still working to boost EV adoption.  Connecticut Public

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On November 19, Connecticut joined eight other states by filing a proposed $7M antitrust settlement that accuses Greystar Management and others of using pricing algorithms to raise rents — Attorney General Tong said the agreement will ban such practices and still needs judge approval.  The Hour
  • Norwalk officials tried to save the landmark oak tree on the traffic island at Cemetery Street and East Avenue, but the state rejected their plan because new drainage work to fix flooding near the East Avenue Bridge must go forward.   • AAA forecasts record-breaking Thanksgiving travel in Connecticut as drivers face heavy traffic and crowded airports while Amtrak adds extra train cars between Nov. 25 and Nov. 30.   • Connecticut health officials confirmed the state’s first flu death this season from an 80- to 89-year-old Hartford County resident who died in late October. They urged residents to get a flu shot as the holidays near—reminding everyone to protect themselves and our most vulnerable.  The Hour

  • UConn women's basketball will play Michigan — the season's first top-10 matchup — today at Mohegan Sun Arena as Geno Auriemma says the Wolverines will be a challenging opponent. The game is part of the Hall of Fame Women's Showcase featuring top-ranked teams.  The Hour
