ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Five Norwalk firefighters who were injured battling a fire at a three-story home on Golden Hill Street are now home and recovering, while the fire marshal investigates the cause as the home has been declared uninhabitable and twelve residents receive Red Cross aid.  News 12 Connecticut

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Gas prices nationwide have dropped below $3 for the first time since May 2021, driven by lower crude oil costs and record oil production. In Connecticut, the regular grade now costs about $3.078, which is a slight increase from last year's average of $3.066.  The Hour

FINANCE NEWS

  • The largest Connecticut Lottery win in November was a $2 million Mega Millions prize—split equally among three brothers who bought the winning ticket in Danbury and said they will invest their shares. A Norwalk resident also won $100,000 on a Holiday Cash 100X ticket sold at Gomez Mini Market.  The Hour

HEALTH NEWS

  • Former Hartford Whalers captain Kevin Dineen announced on social media that he is battling pancreatic cancer+ he said his diagnosis came a few months ago and he is thankful for the support of family and friends.  The Hour

LIFESTYLE NEWS

  • Santa Claus will appear at multiple Connecticut venues (including trolley rides, train journeys, and festival workshops) as families can enjoy events scheduled from Dec. 13 until Christmas Eve, and tickets will range from $13 to $60 (some events may ask for food donations).  The Hour
  • Connecticut diners have seven new restaurants to enjoy this month; Lava Sono in South Norwalk offers Mediterranean dishes and a speakeasy-style piano lounge with live music—other new spots include a bakery luncheonette, a soda shop with creative flavors and an Italian-American restaurant in Stamford.  The Hour

SPORTS NEWS

  • UConn faces Kansas today at Phog Allen Fieldhouse at 9 p.m. as it returns key players Tarris Reed Jr. and Braylon Mullins to try to break its winless streak at this historic venue (record: UConn 6-1, Kansas 6-2). Kansas awaits confirmation on injured guard Darryn Peterson, with coach Bill Self saying his availability will be known Tuesday morning (Peterson has missed the last six games).  The Hour
