- ➤ From Dec. 14 through Jan. 4, local bird watchers can participate in 20 Christmas Bird Count events held across Connecticut; last year, observers recorded 163 species and over 300,000 birds (each event covers a 15-mile circle). The Hour
- ➤ Norwalk’s Northern Forest on Manresa Island will open in spring 2027 and transform a former coal ash dump into 28 acres of restored habitats including walking trails, meadows and outdoor classrooms. The project will feature designated Eco, Gather and Learn pockets and improved access along Longshore Avenue. The Hour

- ➤ Connecticut Lottery reported that no ticket won the $775 million Powerball jackpot in Wednesday night's drawing, causing the jackpot to grow to $820 million with a cash option of $383.5 million — three players earned million-dollar prizes by matching five white balls.
